Billingshurst 0 Upper Beeding 6

Despite creating a number of chances in the first 15 minutes of this game
Beeding just could not score. Billingshurst defended resolutely and excellent
work by the home team's keeper frustrated Beeding's strike force of Sammy
White and Justin Langford.

Billingshurst themselves looked dangerous on the break and almost caught
Beeding's defence on a couple of occasions in the early exchanges.

Finally Beeding's persistence was rewarded with a well taken goal from top
scorer Sammy White. This lead was doubled within a couple minutes with
another goal from White as the visitors started to dominate the home team.
Just to prove that Beeding do have other goal scorers Jim Bacon then
thundered the ball into the net. This was soon followed by a well taken goal
from hard working Matt Smith. Beeding were deserving of their 4 goal lead at
half time, but, the slope of the pitch and the blustery conditions looked
like being a factor in the second period as the teams changed ends.

To their credit Beeding upped their work rate to compensate and took the game
to Billingshurst. Sammy White continued to threaten the Billingshurst goal
and finally got his hattrick, his fifth of the season, midway through the
half.

Billingshurst were held in their own half of the field for long periods, but,
they did manage a couple good efforts to keep the replacement Beeding
goalkeeper, Toby Golds, awake. Beeding's usual keeper, Daniel Smith having
been given a chance to show his outfield skills and to warm up a few minutes
earlier.

Beeding added their sixth and final goal with another Sammy White effort, his
28th of the season, before the final whistle to cap an impressive performance
which with other teams not playing took Beeding to top of the league table.

Man of the Match - Sammy White.

Upper Beeding 4 Copthorne 4

Beeding played host to runaway league leaders Copthorne on Saturday and
played magnificently in this crucial game.

The home side were up against it from the start with only 10 players
available due to illness and injury, but, the team never gave up even after
Copthorne went ahead after 5 minutes.

Gradually Beeding got their confidence back and made good use of the strong
wind blowing in from the coast. Justin Langford levelled scores with a good
strike 15 minutes into the game. Beeding them went ahead as a long throw from
Jim Bacon was slotted home by Luke Andrews. Another was added by Lewis
Hatchett to take Beeding 3 - 1 up. The visitors were looking rattled as Jim
Bacon drove home a Nick Morris header to give a 3 goal advantage at the
break. A brilliant effort considering that Copthorne had only conceded 5
goals all season prior to this game.

The second half was to prove a stern test for the Beeding Boys as they faced
Copthorne with the wind now on their backs. Beeding's worst fears were soon
realised as Copthorne scored 2 quick goals early in the half to bring the
score back to 4-3. Some, at times, desperate defending and brave goal keeping
from Daniel Smith held this score line until 10 minutes to go when Copthorne
scored to make it 4 goals each.
With the energy sapping wind and Copthorne's one player advantage starting to
take their toll on the Beeding boys the last 10 minutes seemed like an
eternity, but, the team dug deep into their reserves and held on until the
final whistle to earn what could prove to be a promotion winning point.

Man of the Match for Beeding - Daniel Smith

Maidenbower Colts 0 Upper Beeding 9

This was not a vintage performance from Beeding, but, the goals kept going in!

Beeding's first goal came almost straight from the kick off as Sammy 'goal
machine' White scored the first of his 5 of the morning. Jimmy Bacon made it
2 with a great header. James Rowland made it 3 soon after, but, many more
chances were squandered as shots were fired towards goal from seemingly all
corners of the pitch. Toby Golds created chance after chance, but, was
destined not to get the goal he so much wanted. Sammy White made it 4, 5 and
then 6 nil before Nick Morris volleyed home a shot to make it 7. Lewis
Hatchett then popped up to grab another before Sammy completed the 9 goal
rout of lowly Maidenbower with his fifth.

Man of the match for Beeding was Toby Golds who with a bit more luck could
have scored a hat full of goals.

Upper Beeding 3 Worthing United 2

Beeding made their way into the third round of the Sussex County FA Cup with
this battling performance.

The home side soon settled into the game and scored first through a powerful
long range shot from Jimmy Bacon. Further Beeding attacks followed, but,
despite long periods of pressure Beeding were not able to increase their
lead. Worthing on the other hand started to get into the game and despite of
some resolute defending, particularly from Nick Morris, Worthing equalised.

Beeding did not give up and fought back to take the lead again through a
header from Andy Tait. This scoreline was maintained to the break. Beeding
were rightly satisfied with their first half efforts and were determined to
maintain their advantage.

Worthing on the other hand had other ideas and midway through the second half
scored to level things up once again at 2 goals each. With about 5 minutes
remaining extra time and even penalties were looking to be in prospect. To
add to this Worthing started to look the stronger side, but, Beeding were not
finished! Another corner was won and in the ensuing scramble Lewis Hatchett
connected with the ball to rifle it into the Worthing net to the great
delight of his team mates and supporters.

The final minutes of the match were a nail biting affair with Beeding
desperately defending as Worthing tried in vain to equalise again. It seemed
to the Beeding players as though the referees watch had gone on a go slow as
the seconds ticked away, but, they managed to hold out for a well deserved
victory in this bustling cup tie.

Nick Morris had an outstanding game in defence and was Beeding's man of the
match.

Upper Beeding 11 Lingfield Minors 3
Beeding were easy winners of this league encounter, Man of the match Sammy
White added another 5 goals to his seasons tally including a brilliant solo
effort which will be a contender for goal of the season. Despite his success
Sammy was disappointed that he had not bagged a few more. With a little bit
more luck Sammy could have easily had 10!.

A winning team is not just about one player though and there were many top
notch performances from Beeding players in this game. Jack Lainchbury, Nick
Morris and Alex Beamish worked hard in defence. Jamie Rowland saw several
Beckham type shots just skim over the bar and Matt Smith gave his all once
again and was rewarded with his first hat trick for the club. Not to be out
done Jim Bacon impressed with his second half midfield performance and helped
himself to 2 goals.

Not all of the coming games will be as easy as this, but, Beeding can build
on the confidence this performance will provide and achieve more success as
the season progresses.

Upper Beeding 7 Horsham Sparrows 2

Beeding got back to winning ways and moved into the second round of the
Horsham League cup with this comprehensive defeat of league rivals Horsham
Sparrows.

Sammy White scored the first of his 4 goals after six minutes to see Beeding
take an early lead. It was all square again only a few minutes later as the
home side gifted Horsham an easy goal. Beeding soon recovered from this set
back and took the lead again with another superb strike from Sammy White.
Beeding kept up the pressure and went 3-1 up when a long range shot from
James Rowland found the back of the net over the Horsham goalkeeper's head.

Horsham rarely threatened the Beeding goal, but, they did pull catch Beeding
with a quick break to score their second goal. Beeding got their fourth when
star striker Sammy White completed his second hat trick in only his third
match for the club.
Beeding continued to dominate with Matt Smith controlling things in the
centre of mid field. His hard work was rewarded with a debut goal shortly
before the break giving Beeding a 5 -2 advantage.

As the second half progressed Beeding maintained their dominance and then
moved further ahead with a powerful header from Jimmy Bacon as he connected
with a well taken corner by James Rowland. Sammy White was back on the score
sheet again before the end to bag his fourth as Beeding ran out easy winners.
Man of the match for Beeding was Matt Smith.

Copthorne 6 Upper Beeding 0

Beeding went into this game full of confidence after some good results
recently. It was, however, soon very clear that it was not going to be
Beeding's day as Copthorne took an early lead. Only brief glimpses of the
form shown over the last few games were seen as the out of sorts Beeding
players struggled with the sticky conditions and a much larger pitch than
they have become used to. Copthorne had scored 4 goals by the time the half
time whistle was blown.

The second half saw an improvement in Beeding's form and despite several
chances that all important first goal never came. Matt Smith did get the ball
in the net only for it to be ruled offside. At the other end Beeding defended
valiantly and restricted Copthorne to 2 more goals before the finish. Man of
the Match for Beeding was defender Jimmy Bacon.

UPPER BEEDING 7 HALSFORD LIONS 2

Halsford Lions from East Grinstead came into this game unbeaten after having
scored 19 goals in their first two games. They will not have enjoyed their
first visit to the village as they were comprehensively beaten by a new look
Beeding side.

Within the first minute of the kick off new striker SammyWhite had the ball
in the net after beating Halsfords defensive line with his skill and speed.
Beeding then proceeded to dominate the first half, creating many chances and
went in at half time 3 nil up with another Sammy White goal and a good strike
from Justin Langford.

After the break Halsford tried to get back into the game, but, Beeding kept
their cool and got a decisive fourth goal with a deflected strike from James
Rowland. Soon after Sammy White completed a brilliant debut hat trick to put
the game out of Halsfords reach.

In a rare attack the visitors then pulled a goal back.Beedings 5 goal
advantage was soon restored though with Andy Tait converting a James Rowland
cross. Halsford were gifted a second goal soon after as Beeding relaxed in
the knowledge that the game was won. Beedings final goal, which was probably
the best of the game, was a spectacular left footed shot into the top right
hand corner of the goal by Lewis Hatchett to round off a brilliant day for
the home team.

Man of the Match for Beeding - Sammy White
Upper Beeding 2  v  Horsham Sparrows  1

A fast improving Beeding were deserved winners of this match.

Beeding dominated the first half and opened the scoring with a fine goal from Justin Langford after he connected with an incisive cross from Nick Morris. Excellent work by new signing Matt Smith helped keep the pressure on and after Horsham failed to clear a probing James Rowland cross Nick Morris scored with a superb volley from the edge of the box.

Horsham fought back in the second half and scored a goal after a Beeding defensive mix up. Despite this set back Beeding looked the better side and by the final whistle
many players had staked a claim for the Man of the Match award. The decision this time went to Andy Tait for his tireless running up front.

On this form Beeding can look forward to many more successes in the coming weeks.

8th September, Upper Beeding 2 v Billingshurst 2

goals early in the second half. However, Billingshurst fought back to make it
two goals each in the last minute of the match to ensure the points were
shared in this exciting encounter. Man of the Match for Beeding was James
Rowland.
