Judgement day the league leaders of the Horsham District Red Group versus the undefeated league leaders Horsham District Green Group head to head, at the park.

The game started at a very high tempo and continued throughout the game. The first 10 minutes the sides were evenly matched with either side having clear chances. But close to the half time whistle Andy G opened the scoring with a superb goal.

After the Manager had had his usual ground breaking pep talk the Bombers scored their second early in the second half and shortly afterwards David G had his second and Beedings third. The boys were full of confidence throughout the game with some well executed passing. John G sealed the final score from just within the half way line that seemed to hang in the air before dropping over the Copthorne keeper’s head.

Considering we have had a couple of weeks break this was a great game to watch especially as the ‘B team’ came away 3-0 winners as well, helped by Jack T scoring two. Man of the Match went to Matt D for a solid defensive role and nearly removing the goal pegs from a strike that would have made any senior player proud. That’s 19 months without a defeat. A special thanks goes to referees Trevor Hatchett and Graham Drawbridge.

We now have to start concentrating on the six-a-side tournaments that are fast approaching. Early indications show that we have failed to get into the first tournament on the Bank Holiday Monday 7^th May 2001 @ Roffey Robins. We will keep you posted before the weekend, hopeful we can arrange a local game.

Finally a plea from the management team to parents and guardians, please ensure the children turn up correctly dressed on match days especially with their shin protection, we would hate any of our little stars of the future getting hurt.
