"Ostensively, this was our finest performance for some time and, to be
honest, it was only a matter of time before this Beeding side took some one
to the cleaners. It was unfortunate for Ferring that today was that day".
was the verdict of a smiling Beeding Manager Mick Barry after his side had
demoralised and demolished a Ferring team who had scored 14 goals and
conceded only one in their last two matches.

Quite simply Beeding were awesome. In the opening moments, Lee Strange broke
the Ferring's off side trap  and fed Stuart Barry, who was inches from
connecting and opening the scoring with his first touch. Ferring failed to
heed the warning and fell behind after just four minutes. Gary Salter's
defensive header was flicked on by brother Mark to Sean Edwards, whose timed
pass saw Matt Doo spring the off side trap again, rounding Sean Yeo in the
Ferring goal before slotting the ball into the empty net.

There were chances at both ends with Strange  and Barry both guilty for
Beeding and Gary Salter the hero at the other end with a marvellous last
ditch tackle when Sean O'Reilly seemed certain to equalise.

After seventeen minutes it was 2-0. Strange again broke on the right cutting
into the Ferring box, his low drive was met by Doo at the near post giving
Yeo no chance.

Although Ferrings' possession was limited, O'Reilly could have done better
from Kevin Punter's far post header but managed to head well over from close
range.

Five minutes before the interval Barry made it 3-0. Mark Salter won a throw
on the left, took it quickly finding Doo whose flicked cross was casually
side footed home by the Beeding teenager.

Two minutes later and the game was over as a contest. Gary Salter rising
high to power home brother Mark's corner.

Manager Barry lost Dave Smith at half time with a reoccurrence of a groin
injury which will keep him out for two weeks, replacing him with Paul
Barker.

There a flicker of hope for the visitors three minutes into the second half
when skipper Jamie Smith headed in Punter's corner to reduce the arrears.
Any hope of a revival in fortunes for Ferring were expunged after 61 minutes
by the superlative Edwards. Steve Rutinski hauled down Barry on the angle of
the penalty box  and Edwards strode up to curl the free kick around the wall
and into the top corner.

If that impressed, Edwards' next contribution was nothing short of stunning.
Barry chested the ball down for Edwards, with his back to goal twenty five
yards out. He turned Martin King, flicked the ball up and volleyed over the
startled Yeo "a la Tierry Henry".

Barry replaced his son Stuart and full back Jamie Ireson with two more
teenagers, Glyn Edmonds and Lewis Partridge after 74 minutes. It was not
what Ferring  needed. Tiring rapidly, they were confronted with two pairs of
fresh legs and it was only seconds before Edmonds had set up Edwards  who
was unable to complete his hat trick, slicing wide from ten yards.

With five minutes remaining Mark Salters' cross field ball was picked up by
Edwards  who crossed first time for Strange to head in number seven from
eight yards.

It was left to the impressive young Edmonds to administer the coup de grace,
firing in Partriges' cross to complete a comprehensive victory.
